A. 4-H entries must be made according to the printed 2026 Custer County Fair Premium Book and entered online by 5:00 p.m. on June 26. Instructions for online entries will be emailed to 4-H families on approximately May 15.
B. ARRIVAL DEADLINE - Sunday, July 26, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
C. NUMBER EXHIBITS PER EXHIBITOR - A 4-H’er is limited to bringing a total of 4 pigs to county fair. This can be any combination of market and breeding gilts with a maximum of 3 market swine. Gilts exhibited in a breeding gilt class cannot be shown in a market swine class. Market swine can be all gilts, all barrows, or any combination. Market swine can also be entered in the Estimated Carcass Merit Contest Division.
D. WEIGHING - Market hogs will be weighed on Sunday, July 26, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. It is the responsibility of the exhibitor that their hogs are weighed in.
E. SHOW CLASSES - Market classes will be divided into gilts and barrows. The superintendents reserve the right to place swine into classes according to their judgment on the number of entries or by weight groups.
F. SHOW SCHEDULE - The 4-H Market Swine Show will be conducted on Monday, July 27, beginning at 8:00 a.m., followed by the 4-H Breeding Gilt Show. 4-H’ers must be present to move their hogs to the show ring beginning at 7:00 a.m.
G. SHOWMANSHIP - Exhibitors must be pre-entered for showmanship classes. 4-H entries must be made according to the printed 2026 Custer County Fair Premium Book and entered online by 5:00 p.m. on June 26. Instructions for online entries will be emailed to 4-H families on approximately May 15.
H. Breeding Gilts are not eligible to be sold through the Livestock Auction or on the base bid.
I. “Fasten down” hog waterers will be provided.
J. There may be a break during the Swine Show for the Bucket Calf Parade.

4-H SWINE ESTIMATED CARCASS MERIT CONTEST
Ultrasound backfat and loin measurements of live animals will be taken just after they exit the weigh-in scales at the Sunday weigh-in. These measurements will be used in a total percent lean formula to rank entries.
4-H swine exhibitors may use the same animal or animals they show at the live show for this division. 4-H entries must be made according to the printed 2026 Custer County Fair Premium Book and entered online by 5:00 p.m. on June 26. Instructions for online entries will be emailed to 4-H families on approximately May 15. To qualify for the swine carcass, contest the animal must weigh in the 230-300 lb. range. Results for this class will be available immediately after the Monday live show.
