DEPARTMENT SPECIAL HOME DESIGN & RESTORATION PINTEREST EXHIBIT
A. 4-H entries must be made according to the printed 2026 Custer County Fair Premium Book and entered online by 5:00 p.m. on June 26. Instructions for online entries will be emailed to 4-H families on approximately May 15.
B. Entries may be entered 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22, at the 4-H Building.

CLASS C890001 Home Design & Restoration Pinterest Exhibit - This class is only for 4-H members exhibiting in Quilt Quest, Design My Place, Heirloom Treasures, Design Decisions, Sketchbook Crossroads, and/or Portfolio Pathways. Items must be designed to be used for home decorating, home furnishing, or home management. (No clothing, purses, note cards, scrapbooks/photo albums, etc.) Accessories should be of high quality, as compared to quick, simple crafts suitable for use in the home several months throughout the year. Items should show creativity and originality, along with the application of design principles and elements. Items must be ready for display in the home (pictures framed, wall hangings and pictures ready to hang, etc.) No single matboard or artist canvas panels. Wrapped canvas (if staples not visible on edge) is accepted without framing, but still needs to include hanger. MAKE SURE HANGERS ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO SUPPORT THE ITEM!! All items must be able to be easily moved by 2 people! 4-H’ers should consider the risk of entering items that are delicate, breakable, valuable, or have a high sentimental value. The Extension Staff and volunteers strive to keep the exhibits safe and secure. However, the Custer County Ag Society, the Nebraska Extension-Custer County, and the Custer County 4-H Council are not responsible for loss or damage of any exhibit. Each individual is limited to one entry in this class. A label with the exhibitor’s name and county must be attached to each separate piece of the exhibit. Supporting information is required on all exhibits in this class: 1) copy of Pinterest instructions for the exhibit, and 2) on a 4” x 6” card, list three things you learned in the construction of the exhibit. Exhibits without the required supporting information and/or fail to meet class requirements will be dropped one ribbon placing. Exhibits in this class are NOT ELIGIBLE FOR STATE FAIR.
DEPARTMENT TABLESETTINGS
This is a special county fair entry for any 4-H'er exhibiting in a Foods, Home Design & Restoration, Visual Arts, Quilt Quest, and/or Clothing project. 4-H entries must be made according to the printed 2026 Custer County Fair Premium Book and entered online by 5:00 p.m. on June 26. Instructions for online entries will be emailed to 4-H families on approximately May 15. Entries will be interview judged on Wednesday, July 22, 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. at the 4-H Building. A handout on tablesettings and menu writing/meal planning is available at the Extension Office.

CLASS C999001 A complete tablesetting assembled by the 4-H member only. A tablesetting assembled with the assistance of anyone other than the 4-H member, may be subject to a dropped ribbon placing. Entry must include a placemat or table cover, centerpiece, napkin, and a written menu. Accessories may be purchased or made by the exhibitor. The tablesetting must fit in an area of approximately 30” (1/3 of an 8’ table). The judge will ask the 4-H'er about the following information:
- Style: formal, contemporary, country casual
- Occasion/theme
- Color, texture, shape, pattern, or line
- Centerpiece
- Time the meal is to be served, the number of people planned, and the food item each piece of flatware is used for.
