A Food Safety Training and Certification Program from the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. ServSafe is the food service industry’s premier food safety training and certification course. It is recognized by more federal, state and local health jurisdictions than any other food safety training program in the United States. The ServSafe course is recommended for all types of food service managers, both commercial and non-commercial.

$160 per person

***Nebraska Extension may exercise the option to postpone or cancel classes due to State or Local Health Department Regulations.***

* An interpreter for the deaf and hearing impaired will be available for the July 12 and 13, 2021 class, if requested for three months in advance.

This course is certified by the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation. ServSafe is the food service industry’s premier food safety training and certification course. ServSafe Food Handlers Class is good in Douglas-Sarpy County for two years, and recommended for all types of food handlers, both commercial and non-commercial. The class consists of five sections: Basic Food Safety, Personal Hygiene, Cross-Contamination and Allergens, Time and Temperature, and Cleaning and Sanitation. At the end of the class a short test will be given, and you will leave with your certificate.

Classes are held at Nebraska Extension in Douglas-Sarpy Counties, 8015 West Center Road, Omaha, NE. For information and to register, contact Nancy Urbanec at (402) 444-7804 or nurbanec1@unl.edu.

Food Handler is a 3 hours basic food safety class for foodservice workers such as cooks, wait staff, dishwashers, etc., and will focus on general food safety. This is a free online Zoom class. Preregistration is required.

Clase de seguridad alimentaria básica de 3 horas para los trabajadores del servicio de alimentos, como cocineros, meseros, lavaplatos, etc. y se centrará en la seguridad alimentaria en general. Esta es una clase gratuita de Zoom en línea. Se requiere preinscripción.

ServSafe Manager Certification Online Exam

Online Registration

An alternative to taking the two-day managers course is to purchase the online class through the National Restaurant Association (www.servsafe.com), you will have 90 days to complete the online course work. The online course is bilingual in English and Spanish, students selects language at start of course. Three random post-tests with 60 questions are available to help prepare for the Certification Exam.

IMPORTANT: You MUST have a registered ServSafe Instructor or Proctor to administer the exam. You may not administer the exam to yourself.
