Looking for exciting activities to enhance your current curriculum? School Enrichment - Nebraska Extension's "learn by doing" programs - can help your students develop skills and knowledge to meet the Nebraska State Board of Education Standards in Science, Social Studies and Reading/Writing.
The following is a list of Food and Nutrition 4-H School Enrichment projects for use in your classroom. These projects are available to teachers in Douglas and Sarpy Counties.
K-5 Nutrition School Enrichment Kits
Due to special grant funding, these free kits are only available to elementary schools where 50% or more of the students receive free and reduced-price lunch.
3-4th Grade Nutrition School Enrichment Kit
Rate That Plate, 3rd - 4th grade school enrichment kit, is available to all elementary schools for a small fee. Third and Fourth Grader nutrition knowledge will grow while they enjoy learning about nutrients, using MyPlate to make healthy food choices, how healthy eating makes them feel, safe handling of food, and the importance of eating a good and healthy breakfast daily.
Fuel Up To Play 60
Fuel Up to Play 60 is an in-school nutrition and physical activity program launched by National Dairy Council and the NFL, in collaboration with the USDA, to help encourage today’s youth to lead healthier lives.
Up to $4,000 per year is available to qualified K-12 schools enrolled in Fuel Up to Play 60 to kick start healthy changes!

Grow A Garden
This standards based educational curriculum is offered through the K-6 grade school enrichment program. Developed under the USDA Team Nutrition initiative, this curriculum focuses on teaching children to eat more fruits and vegetables and develop an awareness on how these foods are grown. This hands on teaching encourages students to learn where their food comes from, how it grows and tasty ways to prepare their harvest.
Grow A Salad
This curriculum focuses on teaching students grades 3-4 simple planting and harvesting methods of salad greens. They will be able to identify a variety of greens based on their taste and characteristics, as well as, the nutritional aspects of each plants.
