Dog

Pay Category 590

                    Dog entries open to York and surrounding counties. All dogs must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.

                    Dog must be trained and owned by exhibitor. An exhibitor may enter only one obedience class per dog.  The exhibitor may choose the class best suited for their dog, except those dogs with the AKC "Companion Dog" degree, (they may not compete in the beginning novice class).  Those with "CDX" or "UD" degree must be shown in class 4.  No dogs can enter in both open class and 4-H/FFA. All dogs must be immunized for DHL, Parvo and rabies before entering the show.  This is an unbenched show and may not be consistent with all AKC rules.  No pinch collars allowed.  Baiting will cause disqualification in all classes. Females in season will not be permitted to show.

                    Dogs must receive a qualifying score to be eligible for premium monies.  A champion will be named with an additional $5 premium.

Sheep

Pay Category 520

                    Sheep entries open to York and surrounding counties. All open class sheep must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.  All sheep must be in place by 6 p.m.  All Market Sheep will be weighed on Wednesday of fair between 4 and 6 pm. 

                    Please read all rules at the beginning of the fair book.  An individual may enter no more than two breeding sheep and two market sheep. No sheep can be entered in both open class and 4-H/FFA.  All animals must have up to date registration papers.  All sheep must have identification labels according to the rules of the respective breed association.  Awards will be made according to merit, but no awards to animals not worthy.  All animals shall have been the property of the exhibitor at least 30 days prior to the opening of the fair and must show the same on the records of the association. NO INTACT MALE SHEEP WILL BE ALLOWED TO SHOW OR BE ON THE GROUNDS.

                    A champion and reserve champion breeding ewe and market lamb will be named and will receive $10 and $5 additional premium.

Rabbit & Poultry

Pay Category 590

                    Rabbit and Poultry entries open to York and surrounding counties.  All open class poultry and rabbits must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.  Breed and type must be included in this pre-entry.  Please include number of pens needed for poultry exhibits.  All poultry and rabbits must be checked in by 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday of fair.

                    A limit of 6 entries per division.  No poultry or rabbits can be entered in both open class and 4-H/FFA.  Birds entered singly are not eligible to be judged as a part of a trio or pen.  The exhibitor, or approved substitute showman or a knowledgeable representative must be present at time of judging or the exhibit may not be judged.

                    A champion will be named in poultry, and rabbits receiving a $5 extra premium.

Dairy Cattle

                    Dairy Cattle entries open to York and surrounding counties.  All open class dairy cattle must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.  All dairy must be in place by 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday of fair.  Animals will be checked in from 9-10 am on Thursday of Fair.

                    General rules for beef cattle apply to dairy cattle. An individual may enter only three dairy animals.  NO INTACT MALE DAIRY ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SHOW OR BE ON THE GROUNDS.

               A champion and reserve champion junior cow and senior cow will be named and will receive $10 and $5 additional premium.

                    Animals will be shown by breed, Brown Swiss, Guernsey, Holstein, Jersey, All Other Breeds

O1020 - Heifers born thru April 30, of current year.

Meat Goat

Meat Goat entries open to York and surrounding counties. All open class meat goat must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July. All breeding and market meat goat will be weighed on Wednesday of fair between 4 and 6 p.m. All meat goats must be in place by 9 p.m. Wednesday. 

Please read all rules at the beginning of the fair book. An individual may enter no more than two breeding meat goat and two market meat goat. No meat goat can be entered in both open class and

Beef

Pay Category 520

                    Beef entries open to York and surrounding counties. Open Class Beef must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.  All beef (except Feeder Calves) must be in place by 9 p.m. on Wednesday of fair week.  Feeder Calves must be in place by 8:30 a.m. on Friday of fair.  Market Beef will be weighed at the fair on the Thursday of fair between 8-9 a.m.

       Please read all rules.  No individual may enter more than two breeding heifers and two feeder calves.  No beef can be entered in both open class and 4-H/FFA.  All animals must be registered, or an acceptable pedigree furnished.  All animals shall have been the property of the exhibitor at least 30 days prior to the opening of the fair and must show the same on the records of the breed association.  NO INTACT MALE BEEF ANIMALS WILL BE ALLOWED TO SHOW OR BE ON THE GROUNDS. It is advised that open class beef exhibitors dress appropriately and set an example for our junior exhibitors. Open class entries will show following 4-H/FFA show.

                    A champion and reserve champion breeding heifer will be named and will receive $10 and $5 additional premium.

 

Breeding

               Animals will be shown by breed: Angus - Charolais - Chianina - Hereford - Limousin - Maine Anjou - Shorthorn - Simmental - Other Breeds

 

O1001 - Heifers born in previous or current year

O1003 - Two heifers bred and owned by exhibitor.

 

Feeder Calves

               Feeder Calves entries open to York and surrounding counties.  Each exhibitor will be limited to two entries.  Entries may be heifer and/or steer calves, born between January 1 and June 1 of the current year.  Steer calves must be steers by fair time.  All breeds will show in one class.  If a class is too large, it will be divided at the discretion of the Superintendent.  Feeder calves may be brought and taken home the day of the show.  Once the calves leave the grounds, they cannot return.

                    A champion and reserve champion feeder calf will be named and will receive $10 and $5 additional premium.

Market Swine

Pay Category 520

                    Market Swine entries open to York and surrounding counties.  All open class swine must be pre-entered at the York County Extension Office by the first Friday of July.  All Market Swine must be in place by 9:00 p.m. Wednesday of fair.  Weighing will be from 8-10:00 a.m. on Thursday of fair.

                    Please read all rules at the front of the fair book. No individual may enter more than two head.  No hogs can be entered in both open class and 4H/FFA.  No breeding swine shown.  Swine being shown do not require a health certificate. 

However, under no circumstances may swine, under quarantine, be entered.  Only swine, not showing signs of infectious, contagious, and/or communicable diseases, will be allowed to show.  Ideal weight is 230 to 295 pounds. Classes will be broken after all entries are weighed.

                    A champion and reserve champion will be named and will receive $10 and $5 additional premium.
