The 4‑H BB Gun competition will follow N.R.A. 5- meter BB Gun rules. Shots will be fired at targets from a distance of 5 meters from each of four shooting positions; standing, sitting, kneeling and prone. Ten shots per position for a total of 40 shots. The final scoring and awards will be based on scores from the four shooting positions combined, plus a score from a knowledge/safety written examination. Contestants will be allowed 10 minutes per position to complete 10 shots. The eligible BB Gun is the Daisy model # 499 and weighs 6 lbs. or less. No scopes permitted.
All contestants and coaches on the line must wear eye protection. Coaching and spotting for shooters is permitted and encouraged by parent or other shooting sport competitors. Refer to 1997 Nebraska State 4‑H BB/Air Rifle rules, shooting sports section, the superintendent or extension staff for rules and rule clarification.
