4-H Communication Events

Saunders County Communication Contest - April 1, 2024 @ 6:00 P.M.

  • Registration now open for Prepared Speech, Radio Public Service Announcements - PSA (Digital Submission), Illustrated Presentation, Impromptu Speech and Video Communication (Digital Submission)  Deadline is March 28th!  Digital Submissions should be emailed to saunders-county@unl.edu by 12:00pm April 1st.

  • *New this year is all youth aged 8 as of 1/1/2024 will be eligible for the state Premier Communication Event on June 17th and June 18th.

Statewide Opportunities

Achievement Application

  • Due November 30th - County Level
  • The Nebraska 4-H Annual Achievement Application form may be used by 4-H’ers ages 8–18 as a record of your 4-H activities.  Applications from 15–19-year old’s may qualify for National 4-H Conference and 4-H Congress by checking these options on the application. The Annual Achievement Application has replaced the Career Portfolio. Visit https://4h.unl.edu/achievement-application to access the application and learn more about opportunities. E-mail completed applications to the extension office at saunders-county@unl.edu.
  • All county-level submissions earn scholarships towards Saunders County 4-H activities.
  • State-Level Applications Due TBD - State-level applications must be emailed to 4HAchieves@unl.edu. Files should be labeled with the applicants last name, first name, and county. For example: "Walker Robin Saunders.pdf".

State-Eligible Applications

  • Senior Achievement Applications (active 4-H members, ages 15-18 as of December 31 of the current year) will be accepted for state-level awards and recognition. 
  • State-Elgible applicants may apply to be delegates for National 4-H Congress, National 4-H Conference as well as be considered for Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarships. 
    • Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarship applicants will need to complete an additional section titled "Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarships."
    • The complete Achievement Application will serve as the Scholarship Application for scholarships found at ne4hfoundation.org/scholarships.
    • Scholarship applicants will need to note on their Achievement Application which scholarships they are applying for. Current transcripts and ACT/SAT scores need to be submitted with the Achievement Application.
    • Nebraska Delegate applicants will need to complete an additional section titled "Representing Nebraska 4-H."

    • "My Experience" pages - Maximum of 4 pages, 12 point font, single-spaced.
    • Delegate Applicants - "Representing Nebraska 4-H" page - an additional fifth page is allowed for youth wishing to apply as a delegate for the National 4-H Conference or National 4-H Congress. 
    • Scholarship Applicants - "Nebraska 4-H Foundation Scholarship" - must complete this additional section and attach a copy of current transcripts, and ACT/SAT scores.

Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover Program

  • Due November 30th - County Level
  • The Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover Program recognizes the accomplishments of 4-H'ers ages 8-18. Youth can progress from Level 1 up to Level 6. At the beginning of the 4-H year, youth choose goals from a provided list and at the end of the 4-H year, fill out a report which documents their accomplishments. Nebraska Extension in Saunders County presents certificates and pins for levels 1–5. Level 6 recipients will be presented a certificate and diamond clover pin by the state 4-H office. Learn more at Nebraska 4-H Diamond Clover Web site.
