Nebraska Extension in Saunders County provides the Saunders County community with research-based information and educational programs from the Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
With offices serving 93 counties across the state, Nebraska Extension is able to provide locally focused educational programs and expertise in the areas of agriculture, natural resources, nutrition, healthcare and technology.
Our county office can connect you with regional Nebraska Extension educators who can help answer your questions about 4-H programs, crop production, pesticide application, livestock, gardening, and more. We offer a wide variety of classes, workshops and trainings throughout the year for youth, families, farmers, ranchers, businesses, and community members.
Seeking 2025 Summer Intern

Applications Due by March 1st.
$13.50/hour - 40 Hours per week. This temporary position will run from Mid-May through early August.
Located at the Saunders County Extension Office at the Eastern Nebraska Research, Education and Extension Center located at 1071 County Road G, Ithaca.
The Saunders County 4-H program is seeking one intern who is energetic, self-motivated and have a strong work ethic to assist with our youth summer 4-H programs and Open Class coordination.
Hired individuals will work collaboratively with educators, assistants, and office staff to coordinate and implement program events and activities. Assist in preparations for events by gathering information, assembling materials, contacting participants, and soliciting support from external sources. Will be involved with teaching, training, and program presentations. Assists with the organization, preparation, activities, events, and shows associated with the Saunders County Fair. Assists with data entry and management, and other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
• Must have completed their first year of college education in a related major: agricultural leadership, education & communication, animal science, family and consumer science, nutrition, youth development, or other closely related field of study.
• Professionally represent Nebraska Extension in Saunders County
• Must have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate effective project coordination, facilitation, and implementation skills.
• Experience working with volunteers and youth preferred. Experience working with 4-H programs desirable.
• Must be a minimum of 18 years of age and have a valid driver’s license. A Criminal history background check and driving record review will be conducted.
• Some evening and weekend work required. Applicants must be willing to travel within the local area and work flexible hours.
• Must be available to work during the Saunders County Fair, July 27 – August 3.
