4‑H Council Roles, Functions & Expectations
The Saline County 4‑H Council is a local group of elected representatives who provide guidance, solicit support, and assist in carrying out programs and activities that support the 4‑H Youth Development Program. Council members are volunteers who are passionate about positive youth development and represent the diverse demographics, delivery modes, and project areas within the county. Their leadership, advocacy, fundraising, and community involvement help ensure that quality educational opportunities are available for all youth involved in 4‑H.
Major Functions of the 4‑H Council
The 4‑H Council works to:
- Develop and Secure Resources
- Establish and Support Local Policy
- Advise the Development of the Local Program Plan
- Advocate for Youth and Nebraska Extension
Member Expectations
4‑H Council members are expected to act in the best interest of all young people and the overall 4‑H program. Members are encouraged to regularly attend Council and committee meetings, volunteer at county 4‑H events and activities, participate in fundraising efforts, and support the final recommendations and decisions of the Council. The Council operates under the leadership and guidance of local Nebraska Extension 4‑H staff.
