4-H Take Home Kits are kits that include all supplies needed to complete a learning experience at your own pace. All projects in the kits have a learning component that can be exhibited at the county fair. You do not have to be a member to receive a kit but do have to be one to exhibit at the county fair. Learn more about becoming a 4-H member at 4h.unl.edu/enroll. Kits distributed in October focus on Citizenship and Heritage. Register for a kit by October 18th. They will be ready for pick up after October 28th at the Extension Office. Payment for kits is due at pick up ($5 for Heritage, $6 for Citizenship), checks can be made to the Fillmore County 4-H Council.

The Christmas Store hosted in Geneva is in need of tie blankets to pair with books or other items to create a gift for the annual event. Through this project the recipient will learn more about the Christmas Store, how to make a tie blanket, and put their "hands to larger service." The kit will include fabric, a guide, instructions, and supporting information.  The blanket will need to be complete and back to the office by November 18th. The blanket will NOT be exhibited at the fair. The supporting information booklet that is included in the kit will be what is exhibited.

With the holiday season right around the corner and potential for lots of family time, it is a great time to learn more about family heritage! This kit will explore family heritage through recipes. The kit will include materials to create a recipe box, recipe cards, and supporting information required for entry at the fair. The Heritage kit is open to endless opportunities to learn more about family history and explore some of the recipes that have been tradition in families for generations.
