Private Pesticide Training updates:

For anyone who still needs to attend private pesticide training this year, the program has moved completely online. To get more information, please visit https://pested.unl.edu. If you cannot do the online training, please call the Pesticide Safety Education Program office 800-627-7216 to make arrangements. If you have any questions about additional pesticide training; including commercial, non-commercial, or chemigation; please call or email T.L. Meyer, beef systems educator.

Nebraska Extension is fully committed to the health and well-being of Nebraskans. In a disease situation like COVID-19, the principle of social distancing is one of the main methods that can be used to help reduce the spread of the disease.

In person Chemigation trainings have been CANCELLED!

Due to health concerns surrounding the COVID-19 virus situation, the difficult decision about cancelling all face-to-face teaching has been made.

Effective March 16th, all remaining scheduled PSEP and Chemigation training sessions are canceled. 

Public Speaking Contests postponed!

Wheat stem sawfly emergence – field notes from early June

June 7, 2021

Lincoln, Neb. —The wheat stem sawfly has begun emergence throughout the High Plains. Observations from several locations – the High Plains Ag Lab (HPAL) near Sidney, Neb., the U.S. Department of Agriculture Agricultural Research Service (USDA-ARS) Research Station near Akron, Colo., and as far east as Deuel County, Neb. – indicate very high populations of wheat stem sawfly in wheat fields.
