Department G, Division 51 - Meat Goat
Exhibitors may show any number of market meat goats and breeding does.
Market goats may be doe or wether kids. All meat goats must be born after January 1 of the current year. Goats are to have milk teeth or may have one or both of their milk teeth, but there shall be no evidence of breaking of the skin or eruption of the two permanent front teeth.
Meat goats must be uniformly slick shorn with 3/8 inch of hair or less. Hair may be left on the legs up to the hocks and knees only. Meat goats must be dehorned (preferred) or have horns blunted. Meat goats may be shown with a smooth neck chain or leather collar.
All meat goats will be weighed and classed by weights as determined by the meat goat superintendents. All meat goats must weigh a minimum of 50 pounds. Animals not meeting this minimum will be shown in a pre-market class. Winners in this class are not eligible to compete for grand or reserve champion meat goat.
