MOVED ONLINE! Go here for recent update: 2024 Forage Field Day Moving Online | Nebraska Extension (unl.edu)

BROOKINGS, S.D. – SDSU Extension, Nebraska Extension, the Northern Plains Forage Association and I-29 Moo University will co-host a field day for forage producers.

Forage Field Day is a regional event that brings together experts, producers, and industry professionals to provide field tours, panel discussions and presentations on forage-related topics.

The Haskell Ag Lab's Family Field Day is right around the corner! The Family Field Day provides research-based programming to show agricultural practices being utilized at the Haskell Ag Lab, and highlight the research and projects produced by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and Nebraska Extension.

Here are some of the presentations and tours that will be at our Field Day:

Make plans to attend the Haskell Ag Lab Family Field Day! The event will take place on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and has something for all ages. The event is free and open to the public. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. and continue throughout the day. The Haskell Agricultural Laboratory is located one and a half miles east of Concord at 57905 866 Rd.

With over 40 attendees, the Cover Crop Field Day on April 30 was a great success at the Haskell Ag Lab. The weather held up long enough to do the featured guided tours through three research trials, showcasing the latest finding and practical insights into cover crop management and benefits. The field day also consisted of presentations as a more in-depth look at the cover crops and research trials and a soil health demonstration by NRCS.

Studies in the 2023 Research Results book cover various topics, including crop production, fertility and soil management, non-traditional products, cover crops, crop protection and equipment.
Forage Field Day - August 6

After connecting with forage extension experts in South Dakota and identifying a lack of outreach, a collaborative effort to put on an annual field day was kicked off in 2021 with SDSU Extension. Initially held at the SDSU Southeast Research Farm and Haskell Ag Lab in 2021, the program has rotated back and forth between locations since 2022. Haskell hosted 2021, 2022, and will host on August 6, 2024. The event has brought in 50 – 100 participants annually and been able to secure $3,000 in grant and sponsorship support.
