Thank you for your interest in Buffalo County 4-H!

4-H is open to ALL YOUTH, of ALL ABILITIES ages 5 to 18.  Youth can join 4-H any time of the year.  However, to enter exhibits at the Buffalo County Fair, the deadline to enroll  is June 15 of each year. 

The enrollment process is done online and Youth and Volunteers need to enroll each year.  Please see the links below to help guide your way.  If you have any questions, please call the Buffalo County Extension Office, 308-236-1235.

The 2024 Nebraska Grazing Conference (NGC) is the 24th Annual Conference in the long history of serving Nebraska’s graziers, a history that began at the first conference in Kearney, Neb., on Aug. 13-14, 2001. It began as a vision of Terry Gompert and Bob Scriven (Nebraska Extension Educators) who recognized a need to serve “ranchers, farmers, wildlife managers, conservation groups, and advisers who wanted to make grazing a profitable enterprise” and manage our grasslands in a sustainable way. An exploratory meeting was convened by the Center for Grassland Studies, University of Nebraska-Lincoln on October 20, 2000. The Growing Together Nebraska project is establishing community gardens in communities statewide. In 2023, the program delivered fresh produce to nearly 20,000 Nebraskans through 51 food pantries and emergency food distribution sites in 13 counties.

Summer camp brings cattle, history, and STEM to campers

August 2, 2024
A metal fence separated a few boys from a bunch of cattle as they looked at each other. Nodding their heads, the boys agreed it would be nice to take one of the cattle back home with them. The boys were part of the Summer Youth Empowerment Camp, which brought more than 30 children to visit the UNL Panhandle Feedlot and the UNL Panhandle Research Extension and Education Center in Scottsbluff on July 24.
