The 2024 Boone and Nance County Communication Contest will be held Wednesday, May 8 at 6:30 pm in Fullerton at the Nance County Extension Office Conference Room. Refer to the fair book for the contest rules.

Length of Prepared Speeches:

Junior Division (4-H Age 8-10): 2-3 minutes Intermediate Division (4-H age 11-13): 3-5 minutes Senior Division (4-H age 14-18): 5-8 minutes

Special Garden Project 2024 - Princess of India Nasturtium

The focus of the 2024 Special Garden Project is the Princess of India Nasturtium. This Victorian-era heirloom flower can be grown in a variety of ways including in containers. It provides a splash of color from its scarlet flowers, and much of the plant can be eaten.

4-H members participating in the Special Garden Project will:

Beef-A-Rama, Swine-A-Rama, Goat-A-Rama, Sheep-A-Rama

Loeffel Meat Shoppe to celebrate reopening May 3

The Loeffel Meat Shoppe will host a grand reopening from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. May 3. The celebration will include recipe samples; demonstrations by Nebraska Extension on food safety, knife care and proper knife usage in the home kitchen (11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.); and store sales and giveaways.
