Biography - E. Trotter

Trotter

My name is Erin Trotter and I am the new 4-H Extension Assistant for Colfax County. I grew up on a family farm north of Columbus, then earned my B.S in Horticulture and Landscape Design from UNL.  After working in the nursery & landscape industry in Omaha, I decided to move closer to family and spent the past 8 years working at Schuyler Community Schools where I have managed the school greenhouse and assisted the Ag Ed program. I currently live on a farm between Richland and Leigh with my husband Mike, SCHS art teacher, and our 3 kids Alyssa (11), Lily (9), and Oliver (5), who attend school at St. Johns Lutheran. We raise a variety of animals on our little funny farm including cattle, pasture pigs, and specialty poultry, and are always testing the limit on how many garden and landscape projects we can take on.

Between work, farm, and kids’ activities I do not get a lot of free time but I enjoy gardening, hiking, and generally spending as much time outdoors as possible. I love that I’ve been able to pass on a passion for nature to my own children and look forward to sharing those experiences with even more students in Colfax county. I’m excited to get started and meet everyone!
