All Nebraska 4-H'ers enrolled in the Beef, Dairy, Dairy Goat, Meat Goat, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep, and Swine projects are required to complete Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) in order to exhibit their livestock.

Nebraska 4-H'ers can now complete their YQCA requirement by taking part in an online course. Livestock YQCA is a self-directed course designed for youth ages 8-18. Participants will learn about good production practices and producing quality food products from taking this course.

The course has been divided into three levels:

Junior (4-H youth ages 8-10)
Intermediate (4-H Youth ages 11-14)
Senior (4-H youth ages 15-18)

Each year youth will be required to complete three modules within their age level. Youth are eligible to work ahead so that they will be done with Quality Assurance requirements until they reach the next age level.

How Do You Receive Credit for Completion of Livestock Quality Assurance?

Each year you are enrolled in a livestock project, you will be required to complete three modules to receive credit for completing your Quality Assurance requirements for the year. For the online modules you need to pass with at least an 80%; for the test outs it will remail at 70% at this time.

Once you have passed a module quiz with an 80% or higher, you will be able to open the certificate associated with that module. Print this certificate and present it to the Extension Office BEFORE June 15th of the year for which you would need to receive credit.
