Nebraska Extension to host agricultural succession, transition planning workshop in Stapleton

Nebraska Extension in Logan County will host a succession and transition planning workshop for farmers and ranchers in Stapleton from 1 to 3 p.m. on March 2 at the Logan County Fairgrounds, 24 Ave. 70.

Allan Vyhnalek, an extension educator for farm and ranch transition and succession, will offer tools and strategies to effectively plan, start and complete estate plans, offer background on common mistakes during the process, and highlight essential considerations for creating and carrying out estate and succession plans.

LIVING WELL with High Blood Pressure

Are you living with hypertension (HTN) or high blood pressure?  Are you concerned about developing HTN?  Are you caring for someone with HTN?  This class is for you!

Join this 6-week series aimed to improve HTN self-management.  Topics include basics of hypertension control, nutrition, physical activity, tobacco cessation, medication management, stress management, and creating short-term and long-term action personal action plans.

The intent of the scholarship is to assist women who live 3 or more hours drive from Lincoln but wish to attend the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Applicant must reside in Love Memorial Cooperative Residence Hall on East Campus.

Heat keeps rains away during wheat harvest

Amid the high temperatures in western Nebraska, wheat harvest has been going on. “We’re right in the middle of wheat harvest,” said Cody Creech, Nebraska Extension dryland cropping specialist at the UNL High Plains Ag Lab in Sidney. “The rest of the state has wrapped up, and we’ll be completing harvest this week.” Typical for most growers, weather has been a big factor in wheat yields. The yield reports in the Panhandle vary depending on whether the fields were hit by hail or not.
