How to Become a Nebraska Extension Master Gardener

Nebraska Extension Master Gardeners are Extension-educated volunteers who make a difference in their communities, reaching people from all backgrounds and ethnicities about research-based gardening information. Knowing lots about gardening before joining the program is not a requirement.  Becoming a Master Gardener involves a love of learning and the ability to volunteer to share gardening knowledge with others.

I’m going to confess right now, this past week was kind of a hectic week for me so I am going to pass along an article prepared by Tina Barrett, Executive Director of Nebraska Farm Business Inc., and appeared on the CropWatch website.

2018 was anything but a normal year. We saw tariffs, price declines, and a long, hard harvest for many farmers, as well as significant tax changes. These changes have led to uncertainty that you may not be able to control, but one thing you can do is be prepared for some year-end tax planning that will likely be different than what you are used to.

Alternative to Pesticide Applicator Training: Confronting Cropping Challenges

Farmers in Northeast Nebraska, particularly those who have private pesticide applicator licenses that expires in 2019, will want to take advantage of a series of meetings in mid-December. Nebraska Extension staff will present Confronting Cropping Challenges that focus on the crop production challenges faced by farmers. Anyone is welcome to attend the first part of the program for the crops information.

Nebraska Soybean Day and Machinery Expo

Soybean producers will want to circle Thursday, December 13, on their calendars. The 2018 Nebraska Soybean Day and Machinery Expo will assist soybean producers in planning for next year's growing season. The expo, which begins at 8:30 a.m. and concludes at 2:15 p.m., will be held in the pavilion at the Saunders County Fairgrounds in Wahoo.
