Saline County 4-H

4-H is helping youth learn and develop valuable life skills. Speaking in front of a group is one of those skills many past members were able to practice during their 4-H careers.  Nine Saline County members recently shared their communication skills through original speeches containing some aspect of 4-H or recited stories/poems at the Saline County 4-H Communications Contest, held April 10, at the office of Nebraska Extension in Saline County.

The Novice Division is for first-time speakers. They may recite a poem or a short story.

Lieutenant Governor, Mike Foley, stopped by to disucuss his role as the Lieutenant Governor of Nebraska with the 4th graders in the Crete After School Program. The 4th graders are just starting a seven week club learning about civic engagement led by teenagers in the Crete Youth in Governance Club and UNL Extension Educator, Leanne Manning.
