GENERAL INFORMATION & EXHIBITING RULES – CLOVER KIDS
- The Clover Kids 4-H Program is designed for youth ages 5-7 years (age as of December 31st of the previous year) to become members of the Nebraska 4-H Program at the local county level. All Clover Kids activities will be non-competitive, with Clover Kids receiving Rainbow Ribbons for participation at the County Fair and County Fair activities especially scheduled for them.
- Youth participating in this program will:
- Experience achievement and reinforcement through age-appropriate experiential learning activities
- Develop a positive attitude toward self, family, and community through positive cooperative rather than competitive learning environments.
- Gain basic subject matter knowledge as well as knowledge in sciences, literature, and the arts through the available curriculum.
- Have the opportunity for practicing problem solving and decision-making skills with adult and youth mentor guidance in safe situations.
- Experience the joy of learning in environments that are supportive, creative, challenging, and fun.
- ENROLLMENT - Clover Kids must enroll in Nemaha County 4-H by June 15th in order to participate in the Nemaha County Fair.
- PRE-ENTRY Deadlines:
- Activities – Require registration forms. Deadlines are specific to each activity. See registration forms.
- Clover Kid Pet Show – Turn in Pet Show Animal ID & Entry Sheet by June 15th (the next business day if the 15th falls on the weekend). Clover Kids must follow all other animal requirements according to the Animal ID sheet in the current year’s Clover Kids Booklet.
- ENTRY AND INTERVIEWS - Clover Kids may enter County Fair exhibits from the project areas listed below. Exhibits will be brought at the same time as all other static exhibits. Clover Kids will have the opportunity to be interviewed about their projects when they come on entry day. If more than one (1) item is entered in a class, put the exhibits together in either a plastic zip-lock bag or a small box to keep them together. Clover Kids may exhibit in as many classes (from the following list) as they have completed projects.
- RECOGNITION - Clover Kids will receive Participation (Rainbow) ribbons and a $1.00 premium for each class they enter, including the Clover Kid Activities listed below. Animal projects are brought on the day of the Clover Kid Pet Show and taken home after the show.
- A summary of the policy from the State 4-H Office on Clover Kids and Animal projects is included in the Clover Kids booklet. It states what the maximum participation level can be, with final decisions based on the 4-H Council for the 5-7 year olds.
- Clover Kids are not eligible to judge in Judging Contests.
- CHARACTER COUNTS! and the six pillars of character, trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship, are an important part of the Nemaha County and Nebraska 4-H Programs. We encourage all 4-H youth and their families to make CHARACTER COUNT! by celebrating our differences, successes, and learning experiences in a positive and supportive environment.
