- News to Note
New Age Division for shooting sports. Age divisions will not be the same for all 4-H contests & shows.
Junior: 8-10
Intermediate: 11-13
Senior: 14-18
**This does mean youth 11+ can participate in .22 and shotgun if they have taken the Hunter Safety course.

Kit makes 3 inspirational bracelets. Kit includes most supplies. $5.00 per kit.
Kits will be available for pickup after January 28th from your local extension office.

This will be our first year to combine 4-H & FFA in our livestock divisions and livestock judging contest for the Nemaha County Fair.

This is the last full week to sell fruit! Tuesday, February 17, 2026, is the end of our fruit sales. Thursday, February 19th, is the turn-in date for your fruit orders. The 4-H Fruit Delivery Day will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2026. Add cards for online orders. Must bring payment for every paper order entered.* We have more forms in the office if you need to pick some up!*

As spring gently unfolds, it's time to begin our preparations for the upcoming 2026 Nemaha County Fair!
- Date: Tuesday, March 24th
- Time: 6:00 P.M.
Join us for an evening at the fairgrounds! Please bring along rakes, gloves, shovels, leaf blowers, and any other helpful tools.
Let's come together to tidy up the leaves and debris that have accumulated during the blustery winter months.

- FIRST TIME SHOWING HORSES IN 4-H
Level Testing Requirements for 4-H Horse Shows must be completed by June 15th. Nebraska 4-H requires this for all youth showing horses in 4-H. There are 3 parts to this level testing. Member manuals with information are in the Extension office. Talk to Sheena for more information.
- YQCA & EARTAGS
If you are showing beef, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, or poultry, you must complete the YQCA certification by June 15th. We have codes in the office to pay for it. Call or email for a code, then complete when it is convenient.
Eartags for beef & swine are available in the office. Pictures of tags in ears must be sent to Sheena by June 15th.
- LANDSCAPING ON FAIRGROUNDS
4-H clubs are assigned and responsible for watering and caring for (pulling weeds, etc.) the plants and the area by the west fairground entry. Thank you for helping to beautify the fairgrounds!!

If you are showing beef, swine, sheep, goats, rabbits, or poultry, you must complete the YQCA certification by June 15th. We have codes in the office to pay for it. Call or email for a code, then complete when it is convenient. Once done, we need a copy of the finisher certificate.
Eartags for Beef & Swine are available in the office. Pictures of tags in ears must be sent to Sheena by June 15th.
- LANDSCAPING ON FAIRGROUNDS
4-H clubs are assigned and responsible for watering and caring for (pulling weeds, etc.) the plants and the area by the west fairground entry. Thank you for helping to beautify the fairgrounds!!

- Reminder of Changes in 2026
»4-H & FFA will combine shows in the fair. There will be no distinction between animals/exhibitors. Youth can wear either shirt in 2026 only.
» The horse show is combined with Richardson Co & will take place on Saturday, August 1st. Horses will be required to return to be housed during the fair.
»Horticulture entry will be on Friday, August 7th, along with the other static entry.

- Want to show an animal at the state fair?
Animal nominations must be done at showstockmgr.com by June 15th for beef, swine, sheep, and goats.
Classes are then chosen by August 10th. Poultry & Rabbits only choose classes by August 10th.
