2026 4-H Summer Workshops


Tractor Safety Day - May 26th & May 27th from 9 am. - 4 pm.

Ages: 14 & up (Including adults)

Cost: $60

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Federal law restricts youth under 16 from using certain farm equipment unless their parents or guardians own the farm. However, 14 & 15 yr olds can earn an exemption by completing a two-day certification course, which includes a written test and driving exam. Successful completion grants NSTMOP certification, allowing them to operate tractors and certain mechanized equipment on farms & ranches, & obtain a husbandry permit.

Get Crackin' - May 28th from 1 pm. - 4 pm.

Ages: 8 to 18

Cost: $10

Location: West Central Research Center (402 West State Farm Rd.)

Youth will learn the steps to making homemade crackers while experiencing the difference between flours; all-purpose, wheat, & rye. Throughout the afternoon, participants will experiment with assorted seeds to create a delectable treat! Recipes to be made during the workshop include: graham crackers, sesame crackers, wheat thin crackers, & multi-seed crackers. (This workshop is co-sponsored by a grant from the Nebraska Wheat Board)

Building Better Babysitters - June 2nd from 9 am. - 4 pm.

Ages: 12 to 18

Cost: $45

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Topics covered will include child development, safety, first aid, CPR, nutrition, general care, & the babysitting business. A snack will be provided, and you must pack a sack lunch!

Fairy Garden Workshop- June 4th from 10 am. - 12 pm.

Ages: 8 to 14

Cost: $30

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Join us to learn how to build a fairy garden that can be shown at fair that will grow and thrive! Participants will learn how to plan, design and plant a fairy garden that meets the criteria to be shown at the county fair. The basic garden will be built in this class along with sand, rocks, and pebbled provided for your own unique design. No figurines, houses or bridges will be included. Either bring those to the workshop to add or purchase them later to put in your garden after the workshop is done.

STEM Rocket Building- June 9th from 10 am. - 11:30 am.

Ages: 10 & up

Cost: $25

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Youth will learn the basics of science and engineering by designing, building, and launching their own rockets. This hands-on workshop encourages creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork while exploring the science of flight in a fun and engaging way.

Wooden Family Heritage Project- June 11th from 3 pm. - 5 pm.

Ages: 8 to 18

Cost: $20

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Create a meaningful keepsake while celebrating the people who matter most! In this hands-on 4-H workshop, youth ages 8-18 will design and paint a custom wooden family heritage display that reflects their unique story. Participants will explore creativity, basic crafting skills, and personal expression as they build a one-of-a-kind project to take home and treasure. No experience needed- just bring your imagination and love for family traditions!

Smart Cents Workshop- June 18th from 3 pm. - 5 pm.

Ages: 8 to 12

Cost: $15

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

In this fun and interactive 4-H Smart Cents workshop, youth ages 8-12 will build money smarts through games, hand-on activities, and real-life scenarios. Participants will explore needs vs. wants, practice smart spending choices, and learn simple ways to save & plan for their goals. Youth will leave with practical financial skills and confidence to make wise money decisions every day.

Clover Kid Day Camp- June 24th & June 25th from 1 pm. - 3:30 pm.

Ages: 5 to 7

Cost: $30

Location: LLM Extension Office Meeting Room (348 West State Farm Rd.)

Explore what 4-H has to offer, create 2-4 projects to enter in county fair, and make a healthy snack. Choose the date that works best for you. (1 day camp offered twice)
