- [0:24] for Midwestern Ag Women” will begin Wednesday, Jan. 18 at numerous

- [1:07] “Women represent an important and growing demographic in agricultural
- [1:11] land management and this workshop series will teach essential
- [1:15] management information while providing women the chance
- [1:18] to ask questions, connect with each other and share their experiences,”
- [1:22] said Jessica Groskopf, director of the Nebraska Women in Agriculture program.
- [1:28] Each state will host multiple satellite workshop sites with local extension personnel.
- [1:33] Keynote speakers will be simulcast to each location and each site will provide
- [1:38] additional speakers and hands-on activities.
- [1:42] Dinner will be included.
- [1:44] Groskopf said the program’s structure is intended to strengthen networks
- [1:48] of women in rural areas, which can provide opportunities
- [1:52] for building trust and sharing information.
- [1:55] “Connections are so important to women farmers,” she said.
- [1:59] “We have seen the benefits that come from knowing your peers,
- [2:02] having a place to share difficulties and mitigate the isolation
- [2:06] that so many of us in agriculture often feel.”
- [2:09] These workshops seek to help participants increase
- [2:12] their awareness of local land values and cash rental rates
- [2:17] and the factors that influence them.
- [2:19] They will also cover the importance of having a written lease and the
- [2:22] items that should be included in it to ensure an equitable agreement for all parties.
- [2:27] Participants will learn negotiation strategies as well as best practices
- [2:32] to improve relationships between landlords and tenants.
- [2:36] Conservation programs will also be covered, so that participants will have a greater

- [2:45] voluntary conservation programs that are available to them.
- [2:50] The workshop costs $50 per person and participants should plan to attend each session.
