- [0:02] Has your community improvement club, city council, or development board
- [0:07] been tossing around ideas on how to re energize your community or kick start a project?
- [0:11] Need some assistance with that process?
- [0:14] The Entrepreneurial Community Activation Process is a holistic approach to help
- [0:18] communities support innovation and entrepreneurial thinking by understanding
- [0:22] their unique characteristics, assets, and opportunities.
- [0:26] This program facilitated by Nebraska Extension,
- [0:29] provides a framework of education, research and engagement through which
- [0:33] communities can better understand
- [0:35] current and prospective resident perspectives and aspirations,
- [0:38] while inviting residents to help shape the community’s future plans.
- [0:43] By making a commitment to the ECAP program communities will embrace visionary thinking,
- [0:48] endorse entrepreneurial leadership, create synergy, and leverage resources
- [0:52] for attracting and retaining a working-age population.
- [0:56] Nebraska Extension educators and partners will facilitate the ECAP program in
- [1:00] cooperation with a community sponsoring organization and local ECAP steering committee.
- [1:07] The ECAP approach is built upon eight entrepreneurial characteristics that help
- [1:11] communities identify strategies to develop:
- [1:14] Community Vision, Culture of Change,
- [1:16] Leadership, Sense of Place,
- [1:19] Infrastructure, Digitally Connectedness,
- [1:22] Education/Workforce IQ,
- [1:24] and Entrepreneurial Support Systems.
- [1:28] Communities interested in the ECAP Program should ask
- [1:30] • Do you have a vision for the future?
- [1:33] • Is change easy for your community?
- [1:35] • Do you value and support innovation and entrepreneurs?
- [1:38] • Can your history launch the future?
- [1:41] • Is your community digitally connected?
- [1:43] If you can answer YES to any of the above – congratulations!
- [1:46] You’ve already demonstrated components of an entrepreneurial community.
- [1:51] How can you become even more progressive in your actions?
- [1:55] What can you focus on in the next few years to spur more innovation and community vitality?
- [2:00] These are all questions we can explore as you express interest in the ECAP program.
