Marathon Kids in Hamilton County

This summer, Nebraska Extension partnered with the Hamilton County Youth Center to offer a Marathon Kids program. Marathon Kids is a national running program designed to motivate youth and introduce them to the joys of physical activity. A group of twelve youth, ranging from 3rd to 6th grade, participated in weekly sessions throughout June and July. During the program, participants set personal goals while learning about healthy eating and the importance of staying active. Collectively, the group logged an impressive 95 miles!

For more information about the Marathon Kids program, please contact Mariah Newmyer, Food, Nutrition, and Health Educator, at mariah.newmyer@unl.edu.
