General Rules:

  1. The name and county of each exhibitor should appear separately on the back of each board, poster or article and on the front cover of the notebooks so owner of the exhibit may be identified if the entry tag is separated from the exhibit.
  2. Each individual is limited to one exhibit per class.
  3. Demonstration boards should include an overall title for the display, plus other necessary labeling. 
  4. Please refer to the General Rules for the policy regarding firearms, items with a blade, and other related items.
  5. Please refer to the General Rules for the policy regarding use of copywritten images.
  6. Posters in this department can be any size up to 28 inches by 22 inches when ready for display. Example: trifold poster boards are not 28 inches by 22 inches when fully open for display.

LEGO DESIGN AND DEVELOPMENT

*Not State Fair Eligible

The Lego project will encourage the 4-H member to use their imagination and ingenuity in creating an exhibit. This project reinforces STEM related skills like design process and construction skills. 

Department Rules:

  1. All Lego exhibits must be on a solid base to protect them as they are moved about during the fair. Bases made of plywood, foam board, very thick cardboard or other similar material. Lego base plates typically do not provide enough support. You may use items such as zip ties, fishing line, or poster tack to secure your creation to the solid base. All exhibits should have an exhibit tag attached. Be sure to label the underside with 4-H member’s name.
  2. THERE IS TO BE NO GLUING OF PIECES OR PAINTING OF BLOCKS.
  3. Overall design, construction techniques, soundness, sturdiness and balance will be some of the criteria used to judge this project. The use of the word “Lego” is used only as a tag line for this project. You are free to use any brand of plastic snap-together or connecting pieces to complete your project. NO BIONICALS. Decals and other materials are optional to use.
  4. All exhibits:
  5. Are to be NO larger than 22 inches x 28 inches. 
  6. They may be an original design or a purchased kit. 
  7. The Lego blocks should not be altered by cutting, painting, gluing, etc. 
  8. A completed explanation card should be attached to the project, attached to entry tag. 

Include the following information: 

  1. Name, 
    1. Class number, 
    2. Class Description, 
    3. Kit used (yes or no),
    4. Description of what was used and how it item was made. 
    5. Include an explanation of tools, techniques and media. 
    6. What skill or technique is new to you and what can be improved.

  2. NO motorized units will be allowed

*H 930 901  Fictional character or thing - Examples could be: an animal, a person, a statue, 

a totem pole, etc.
*H 930 902  Structure or vehicle – Examples could be: house, skyscraper, barn, etc. or car, 

truck, plan, tractor, farm Implement, boat, etc.
*H 930 903  Any two related objects
*H 930 904  Any three related objects
*H 930 905  Any Lego scene
