Exhibitors will be required to enroll in 4-H and the required projects by June 15 in 4H Online to participate in County and State Fair.

4-H/FFA Livestock Info - due June 15

YQCA

Exhibitors will be required to complete Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) for those enrolled in 4-H/FFA, all Livestock including: Beef, Goats, Poultry, Rabbit, Sheep and Swine by June 15.

YQCA is available as an online or face-to-face program for youth everywhere in the United States. We will be using the same website as last year (even with all of it’s glitches) https://yqcaprogram.org/.

Requirements:

Online – 3 modules @ $12 total (to receive full certification you must complete 3)

OR Face-2-Face training @ $3 total 

OR Test Out for Intermediate @ $36 or Senior @ $48

Any traditional 4-H member (8-18) in your family that is enrolled in a beef, goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep and/or swine project must be certified to show at county and state fair! The deadline for completion to be eligible to show at the Burt County Fair is June 15th! If you have questions please contact us!

  • Remember, we learned last year that you have to register for the course, take a pre-test. AND then take a post-course survey before you can access your certificate (which is the part we need).

Tagging/Tattooing

  • Livestock tags required for Market Beef, Feeder Calves, Bucket Calves, Market/Breeding Swine (NEW FOR 2024).
  • Tattoos required for Registered Breeding Beef and Rabbits, optional for Commercial Breeding Beef (if not EID tagged)
  • Scrapies tags required for Market/Breeding Goats and Market/Breeding Sheep

Eligible Livestock 4-Hers (4-H age: 8+ NEW FOR 2024)

Online nominations & DNA envelopes for ALL Livestock including: Beef, Goats, Sheep and Swine are due June 15th (needed to be eligible to show at State Fair).  Please reference enclosed document for nomination requirements. All nominated and validated animals will be automatically listed as a choice option for entry registration. Families will pay for nominations online.

  • Nominations through Show Stock Manager, https://showstockmgr.com/ - due June 15
  • DNA envelopes to Extension Office – due June 15

The following species must be nominated & have DNA envelopes to exhibit at the State Fair:

  • Registered Breeding Beef
  • Commercial Breeding Beef

*Please note a female beef, goat, sheep and swine animals can be nominated for both breeding and market for State Fair so long as all online nominations and payments are completed. * 

It is highly important that your county affidavits be accurate for breeding animals, as this is what your online nominations will be validated against.

FAQ:

  • Will a family have to submit DNA and pay twice for an animal to be eligible for both State Fair and the Aksarben Stock Show?
    • YES *NEW FOR 2024* the Aksarben Stock Show online nomination system will be different than Show Stock Manager. 4-H/FFA families who want to be nominated for both NSF and Aksarben will only need to submit one DNA envelope but will now have to submit the online nomination in two different databases.
