Empowering Men and Women in Agriculture

The Nebraska LEAD Program prepares and motivates men and women in agriculture for more effective leadership. Nebraska LEAD provides a strong knowledge base, relevant exposures and experiences, and important leadership and social skills necessary to respond to the major challenges facing agriculture in Nebraska.

The two-year program allows participants to study local, state and national issues and includes a 10-day national study/travel seminar to three major U.S. cities. The second year curriculum builds on the first year topics with added global perspectives, including an emphasis on international trade, foreign policy, cross-cultural understanding and geopolitics. The capstone of the second year's study is a 14-16 day international study/travel seminar to several selected countries.

At the time of their graduation, LEAD Fellows:

  • Have been exposed to diverse societal and business thinking,
  • Possess a respect for agriculture’s history and heritage, and
  • Leave with the ability to investigate and listen to all sides of an issue before formulating their opinions.
