4-H is a youth development organization open to all youth ages 5-18!
- Youth ages 5-7 years old as of December 31 of the prior year enroll in the 4-H program as Clover Kids. The 4-H Clover Kid program offers a variety of educational and recreational experiences in a non-competitive environment. This is a great opportunity for developing confidence, creativity, and competence during the members first years in 4-H.
- Youth ages 8-18 as of December 31 of the prior year will enroll and participate in educational and recreational experiences in a more competitive environment and have the opportunity to receive awards based on project merit, if displayed at a fair or if youth participates in a contest. These youth have the opportunity to develop skills and grow those skills during their years in 4-H.
There are many ways to participate in the 4-H program, but when enrolling in the county program, two ways to enroll include the following:
- Traditional Club Membership - allows youth the opportunity to participate in projects with the guidance of their club leaders and peers, take part in club work and club service projects, and have the opportunity to serve in club leadership roles. 4-H clubs host meetings, typically monthly or every other moth throughout the year.
- Independent Membership - allows youth the opportunity to participate in all county and state events and activities, but without the obligation of attending club meetings. If youth enroll as an independent member, they may not have some of the service and leadership opportunities that club membership allows.
Ready to Enroll?
Great! All 4-H families will enroll in 4-H through 4HOnline. 4HOnline is a web-based enrollment system that allows families to enroll in 4-H on your personal computer or mobile device. You will be able to complete all of the information necessary to join 4-H, including required code of conduct forms and health forms. There are no paper forms to submit for youth or volunteer enrollment, it is all done online. Enrollment opens every year in October and continues through September the following year. It is strongly suggested to enroll prior to April 1 to receive all club and fair correspondence; however, the deadline to enroll/re-enroll is June 15. After that date, the 4-H'er will be allowed to participate in events and activities but will not be eligible for ribbons or awards at any event. All youth and volunteers must re-enroll every year or they will not be in the 4-H system and will not be allowed to participate in activities and events where enrollment is required.
