On Thursday, April 24, 2025, the annual 4-H Public Speaking Contest was held at the First United Methodist Church in Falls City. Fourteen speeches, four public service announcements, and two illustrated presentations were presented to judge Allison Johnson.
Clover Kids Division (Ages 5-7 Years): Amalia Demmel presented a poem titled “The Pleiades”. Hannah Maxwell presented a story titled “I Can Read with My Eyes Shut”. Jacob Maxwell presented a story titled “Dancing Dinos Go to School”. Parker Milam presented a story titled “Good Night Moon”. Hayden Mullins presented a story titled “5 Monkeys Jumping on the Bed”. Griffin Seeba presented a story titled “Humpty Dumpty”. Cooper Vonderschmidt presented a story titled “The Lost Little Chick”. Dax Vonderschmidt presented a story titled “Big Egg”. Charlie Wilhelm presented a story titled “Moo Baa LaLaLa”. All participants received a Clover Kid Ribbon.
Junior Public Speaking Division (ages 8 to 10 years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Daniel Epler for a speech “Chickens and 4-H Poultry Projects”.
Intermediate Public Speaking Division (ages 11 to 13 years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Caroline Powell for a speech titled “How the 4 H’s in 4-H Correspond to Animals”. Reserve Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Kylie Ramsey for a speech titled “Health”. Blue ribbons were awarded to Elizabeth Maxwell for a speech titled “How I learned to crochet” and to Charles Wamsley for a speech titled “Rabbits”.
Intermediate Public Service Announcement Division (Ages 11 to 13 years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Kylie Ramsey for a PSA titled “Ready through 4-H and Beyond!”. Reserve Champion and purple ribbon were awarded to Elizabeth Maxwell for a PSA titled “Ready through 4-H…and Beyond”. A purple ribbon was awarded to Caroline Powell for a PSA titled “4-H is for Everyone”.
Senior Public Service Announcement Division (Ages 14 to 18 Years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Adisen Fischer with a PSA titled “Ready through 4-H…and Beyond!”.
Junior Illustrated Presentation Division (Ages 8 to 10 years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Gavyn Mullins for a presentation titled “Fishing”.
Intermediate Illustrated Presentation Division (Ages 11 to 13 years): Champion and purple ribbon was awarded to Caroline Powell for a presentation titled “How to Tie a Quick Knot”.
