This is the official list of summer activities. Pre-registration is required and some workshops will have registration caps. To make sure you get into the workshops you would like, please register early. Also, remember to line-up an adult helper if the workshop requires it.

 Garfield County Courthouse changed business hours effective February 1, 2021. The building is open from 8:30AM-12:30PM and 1:00PM-4:00PM. We are typically open during our lunch break, but please call ahead.

 Clover Kid Quilt Day

Date/Time: May 20, 9:00AM-12:00PM, Hanna Texstyles

This class is designed for new quilters with no experience. Participants will piece a small alternating charm quilt that will be tied and completed in one day. Participants in this class will not bind. Charms and other materials will be available for purchase on-site. Bring a helper and a smile. Estimated $10.

This is part of the Entrepreneurship project. Participants will learn about how one entrepreneur makes soap and lotion with her goats’ milk. Registration capped at 10 youth. Must be 8 & Up to attend.

Join Jodi to get you and your pooch ready for the GLW 4-H Dog Show. Practices will include opportunities for 4-Her and dog partners to explore obedience, showmanship and agility.

4-H Summer Reading Program

Learn about animal science as part of Tails & Tales, the 2021 National Summer Reading program. Each week, we will have a new theme, a new book, new activities and new challenges. This free program is open to all youth K-6 so feel free to bring your non-4-H friends along. Please pre-register for these sessions so that we have plenty of supplies for the activities.

This is part of the Design Decisions project. Youth will create a framed piece of wall art using heat transfer vinyl and a wrapped canvas.

 Houseplant & Container Plant Workshop

This is part of the Growing Great Houseplants project. Participants will learn about houseplant care while potting their own houseplant. Registration capped at 10 youth.

This workshop will take you through the process of constructing your own pillowcase. This is part of STEAM Clothing 1. Helper is required. Registration is capped at 4 per hour. Bring your own machine, if you can.

 Calamus Campfire Cooking

Cost: $10

This program is open to the public and all ages. We request that youth under the age of eight have an adult helper because of the danger of the open flame. Participants will cook a full meal by the campfire. This year’s program will feature cooking in packets and s’mores.

Central IV 4-H Fashion Show

Date/Time: July 1, Valley Co Fairgrounds

Due to declining numbers of modelers, GLW will be joining the Central IV 4-H Fashion Show in Ord. All 4-Her’s enrolled in sewing projects are invited to show off their exhibits at the Central IV 4-H Fashion Show. Register by June TBA to reserve your spot in the show.  Youth Leadership Conference

Date/Time: July 1-3, Nebraska State 4-H Camp (Halsey)

Cost: $200

Want to take your 4-H career to the next level? Join the first ever Nebraska 4-H Youth Leadership Conference in Halsey. You can meet some of the other top 4-H youth across the state while building your leadership skills through fun, camp activities. Jen will be chaperoning this experience and would love to have GLW youth join her. Call Jen to learn more. Registration will be taken online through the Nebraska 4-H Camps website. Scholarships are available up to $100. Open to incoming 9th through 12th grade.
