Rule Change Procedure Timeline
Do you have an idea, suggestion, or a change that you would like to see at the Gage County Fair related to 4-H or FFA livestock or static exhibits? Review the procedure for making changes and attend the Fair Planning meeting (held in January or February) or submit your suggestion through the Gage County Fair Suggestion Form.

County Fair Rule Change Procedure

January/February
Fair Planning Meetings are held at the Extension Office to present ideas and suggest changes. Items on the Fair Planning Form (Due January 15) will be brought to these meetings (additional ideas can be presented for those who attend the meeting in person). Discussion is held over each idea/change brought to the meeting.

February/March
All ideas/changes from the Fair Planning Meetings are presented to the 4-H Council. 4-H Council determines which ones they would like to pursue.

February/March
Ideas/changes that the 4-H Council would like to pursue are presented at the Ag Society Livestock Committee meeting (if many ideas presented) and/or Ag Society Monthly Meeting (if few ideas are presented) by Extension Staff in attendance. Ag Society provides guidance and opinions about the suggested changes for the year.
If a ideas/changes pertain to FFA participation, 4-H Council also seeks guidance from area FFA advisors to inform decisions.

March/April
The Extension Staff provide a report from the Ag Society Livestock Committee or Monthly Meeting pertaining to the suggested ideas/changes presented. The 4-H Council approves or denies each change.

April
The Extension Staff update the fairbook with the adopted changes made my the 4-H Council. The fairbook is made available online and in print.

Can't attend the Fair Planning Meeting in January/February, but still want your voice heard? Use our Gage County Fair Suggestion Form. Please plan to have supporting information available when you are filling out your form. This can include (but not limited to): observations, reasoning, outside examples, research or science-backed articles/websites.
The deadline to fill out this form for your idea to be presented at the Fair Planning Meeting is January 15 of the current year.
