About the Social Committee:

The Social Committee at ENREC organizes social activities and benefits meetings for employees. Funding for activities are provided on a voluntary basis by employees once a year.

Funding:

The funds are used to cover the cost of flowers if a current employee, their spouse or child should pass away.  The social committee also sends out get well, retirement, sympathy, and wedding cards (REMEMBER TO LET US KNOW if someone should receive a card, it can be difficult to keep track with the number of employees in different areas). With this money, the committee is able to purchase refreshements for various employee activities which may vary from year to year - such as an ice cream social or employee breakfast. Funding also goes towards the the post-holiday get-together and refreshments for the many retirement and farewell receptions were all made possible because of employee donations. Employee retirement dinners are not included in use of these funds.

Please note that the Social Committee will not automatically plan receptions. Requests should come from the employee's supervisor.

Employee of the Year Award:

In 2002, the social committee designed and implemented the ARDC Employee of the Year award. The award recogizes an employee at ENREC, Nebraska Extension in Saunders County, Southeast Extension District, and Greater Nebraska Business Center employees with appointments or full-time duties at the ENREC annually for his or her outstanding work. Employees submit nominations and those nominations are put forward for rating by fellow employees, supervisor rating and social committee rating. All prizes for the award are solicited by the social committee and the award is presented at the summer picnic. For more information on the Employee of the Year award, please visit enre.unl.edu/EOY.

The social committee also coordinates activities such as benefits updates, employee flu shots, the Share and Care holiday drive, and other activities that benefit employees or the community.
