About ENREEC
Welcome to the University of Nebraska Eastern Nebraska Research, Extension and Education Center (ENREEC) site. ENREEC was created in 2016 to meet the diverse needs of Nebraska's rural sector and its growing urban population through the integration of research efforts and valuable programming of Nebraska Extension.
ENREEC was formerly the University of Nebraska's Agricultural Research and Development Center near Mead, Nebraska and leverages existing land and facilities for research and education. The proximity of the center to 70% of the population in Nebraska provides the opportunity to engage learners in research-based education in and nearby their communities.
The center features an integrated research program. Educational programming in the area focuses heavily on the specific needs of each area providing nationally respected expertise in Livestock Systems, Early Childhood, Horticulture, Landscape, and Environmental Systems, Community Vitality Initiative, Cropping and Water Systems, Food, Nutrition and Health, 4-H Youth Development, and Disaster Recovery Resources.
About the IANR REECs
The University of Nebraska Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources (IANR) operates three main Research, Extension and Education Centers (REEC) across the state with each having a network of farms, ranches and educational facilities to support the mission of IANR. Each REEC is unique to its own history and development since their inception.
The Strategic Plan 2020-2025 combines an in depth reflection of “looking forward” to set the direction and focus of a collaborative statewide effort. Each REEC captured input from their advisory boards as well as stakeholders and faculty to identify and prioritize needs across the state.
