Meet the Ambassadors
Matt
Matt has been a Dakota County 4-H'er since 2014.
His favorite projects are beef, swine & goats and loves being in the showring. He has served as an officer in his 4-H club and serves as the 4-H representative on the Dakota Cuonty Extension Board. Matt is a high school sophomore and is active in Basketball, FFA & FBLA.
Rachael
Rachael has been a Dakota County 4-H'ers since 2013.
Rachael's 4-H projects include beef, swine and goats. She is a great helper for the younger 4-H'ers, and loves being at County fair and participating in the State Fair. She has served ass an officer in her club. 4-H has helped Rachael to build a business with her brother and cousin raising Show Goats.
Rachael is a high school junior and active in Basketball, Track, FBLS, FFA, One Act play, Student Council and SKILLS USA.
Alexis
Alexis has been a Dakota County 4-H'er since 2015.
Avery
Avery has been a Dakota county 4-H'er since 2019.
Avery's favorite 4-H projects are Beef, Goats and Poultry and Rabbits. Avery would like to be a vet when she grow up. Her favorite animals are cows. She loved being outside. "4-H has taught me to break out of my shell".
Avery is in 8th grade and is active in Cross Country, Wrestling, Basketball and Track.
Jayda
Jayda has been a Dakota county 4-H'ers since 2017.
The goal of the Dakota County 4-H Ambassador program is to develop leadership skills and build communication skills to be utilized in an advocacy role for the Dakota County 4-H Program as well as in other aspects of the ambassador's life.
ROLE OF THE DAKOTA COUNTY 4-H AMBASSADORS:
- ADVOCATES: Ambassadors will represent and promote the Dakota County 4-H and Nebraska 4-H programs at local/regional 4-H events.
- ROLE MODELS: Ambassadors are role models for other youth. They will be respectful, polite and helpful with other 4-H members, adult leaders, and Nebraska Extension staff.
- MENTORS: Ambassadors will have the opportunity to assist with events throughout the county. Their purpose is to assist in educating youth and adults about the 4-H program.
The Dakota County 4-H Ambassador program strives to promote 4-H and encourages youth to become actively involved in their communities. The Dakota County 4-H Ambassadors volunteer their time to assist with a number of county, regional and state events and programs. By assisting with these functions, the Ambassadors will have opportunities to enhance their advocacy and leadership roles with the Dakota County 4-H program and to develop an increased interest in volunteer work and community service.
AMBASSADOR EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as a positive role model to all 4-H youth.
- Assist with 4-H events Dakota as a Dodge County 4-H Ambassador.
- Assist with the Dakota County 4-H Achievement Celebration.
- Attend University of Nebraska-Lincoln Communications Workshop (to be scheduled).
- Develop testimonials about 4-H and its positive impact and submitted with a press release to the local media.
- Assist with 4-H Summer Workshops.
- Develop and lead a group project in your local club.
- Regularly maintain and wear the 4-H Ambassador shirt and nametag while serving as a representative.
- Maintain continued communication with the Nebraska Extension staff.
- Be on time to all scheduled commitments.
EXTENSION STAFF EXPECTATIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Through this program, 4-H staff members are committed to offering you:
- Increased understanding of your leadership skills and abilities.
- Increased confidence in yourself.
- Better understanding of the Dakota County 4-H Program.
