     Nic Ostergard Memorial Scholarship, $1,000

  • Applicant must have at least 5 years cumulative involvement in Custer County 4-H.
  • Must have a high school GPA of 2.5 or higher.
  • Scholarship will be paid at the beginning of the recipient's 2nd year of chosen program of study. Pending proof of enrollment and attainment of a 2.0 GPA or higher in the previous year.

Applicants must be seniors at any Custer County high school, and the applications are due February 1st.   This scholarship is through the Custer County Foundation Scholarship program.

    Chase Christen Memorial Scholarship, (2) Two Scholarships at $1000 each - 1 male and 1 female

  • Applicant must be a Senior at a Custer County high School.
  • Applicant must be an active member in 4-H or FFA.
  • Two Scholarships will be awarded to 1 male and 1 female.

Applicants must be seniors at any Custer County high school, and the applications are due February 1st.   This scholarship is through the Custer County Foundation Scholarship program.

Custer County 4-H Activities Scholarship

Must be a current high school senior, graduating Spring, 2026

Four $500 scholarships and one $250 scholarship sponsored by the Custer County 4-H Activities Corporation.  Offered on a county basis. 

 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:  Applicant must be a current active Custer County 4-H member and have been a member of the Custer County 4-H program for four or more years.  Scholarship applicants must have a "C" average or above.  Recipients must complete the first semester of college before the scholarship funds will be applied.  Applicants 

 SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE:  Applications must be submitted to the Nebraska Extension - Custer County Office on or before March 1, 2026.   The first public announcement of this award will be made during the month of May.  The scholarship money will be submitted to the institute of higher learning of the applicant’s choice.  This scholarship must be used in the 12 months following the selection.  On accepting this scholarship, the Custer County 4-H Activities Corporation expects the recipients to make a sincere effort to complete the degree requirement in their chosen school.

Must be received by March 1, 2026 in the Nebraska Extension in Custer County office.

2026 Scholarship Program

Eligibility

To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must be in the age range of a high school senior to 21 years of age. Applicants must have experience with an animal project in one of the species covered by YQCA (beef cattle, dairy cattle, swine, sheep, goats, poultry, or rabbits). All applicants must show a commitment to pursuing a career path in agriculture, livestock, or food systems. Applicants must meet one of the following education and career pathway requirements:

  • High School Seniors: High school seniors may apply if they have been accepted into an accredited college, university, or certification program in an agriculture-related field.
  • High School Graduates: High school graduates must be currently enrolled in one of the following:
    • A 2- to 4-year college or university agriculture program
    • An agriculture-related certification program

 

Proof of enrollment is required before scholarship funds are released to the institution.

Awards

A total of $30,000 through 10 scholarships will be awarded, ranging from $500 to $5,000. Award amounts will be determined based on application scoring and final committee review.

Dates

The application will close February 15, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. CST. The application deadline is final, and no extensions will be provided. The system will automatically prevent application submission after the deadline. Please note technical assistance will not be available after 5:00 p.m. CST on the day of the deadline.
