Create a Little Fall Fun With a Mini Ghost Garland

For many, fall is their favorite time of year. It’s a tad bit cooler, the leaves are turning pretty colors, and you can smell the pumpkin spice in the air. I have always loved fall because there always seems to be something to do. Whether it’s football games, pumpkin patches, town celebrations, or the perfect opportunity to decorate for a new season!

Fall decorations can make a house feel so cozy and comfortable. What better way to make your home feel cozy than by making a homemade decoration? It adds just a little extra character to your space!

The cute and easy fall decoration I will be making is a mini ghost garland! It’s perfect for the Halloween season and can be made with things you may already have around your house. Whether you’re 70 or seven, you can make it!

What You’ll Need

  • Fabric
  • Wooden balls (or any small round object)
  • Twine or string
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Marker

Steps for Making the Perfect Mini Ghost Garland

  1. Choose your fabrics. Select a couple of different fabrics so you can create a fun pattern throughout your garland.
  2. Cut your fabric. Cut the fabric into 8-by-8-inch squares.
  3. Create the ghost. Place the wooden ball, or another small round object, in the center of the fabric. Gather the fabric around the ball to form the ghost’s head and body.
  4. Secure the ghost. Tie twine around the fabric just below the ball to create the ghost’s neck. Trim any excess ends.
  5. Add the face. Use a marker to draw two eyes on the front of the ghost’s head.
  6. Repeat. Continue making ghosts until you have as many as you would like for your garland.
  7. Trim the bottom. Cut the bottom of each ghost to your preferred length or shape.
  8. Attach the ghosts. Space your ghosts along a piece of twine and use hot glue to secure them in place.
  9. Hang and enjoy! Find the perfect spot to hang your garland and enjoy your festive creation!

Seasonal crafts and projects are perfect for kids! They give children an opportunity to help decorate the house while also creating something they can be proud of. Even better, this project could be entered in the county fair the following summer!

Although in October, no one is thinking about what they will enter at the county fair, don’t forget about those small seasonal projects that can start the fall before fair season. You never know what fun project you might create that becomes a great fair entry!
