In 4-H, summer is such a busy time for our 4-H staff. Between workshops, contests, and county fair, life can get a little chaotic! Summer is also one of our favorite times of the year because we have so many opportunities to see and interact with our 4-H families. Some of those familiar faces we may not see again until next summer.
However, as 4-H staff, our work continues throughout the entire year. No, the job isn’t over when September rolls around and State Fair wraps up. We are just getting started with a new programming year!
Part of our role as 4-H Educators and Assistants is providing school enrichment opportunities to schools throughout our county. Through these experiences, we are able to bring educational programming directly into classrooms and reach as many young people as possible. While not every student we work with is enrolled in 4-H, they can still be impacted by the educational experiences and opportunities provided through Nebraska 4-H.
Throughout the school year, you can expect to see Kerry, Heidi, and me in schools throughout Buffalo County! We provide school enrichment in areas such as STEM, agriculture, and environmental education. Nebraska 4-H also offers a wide variety of curriculum and educational topics that can be brought into the classroom.
If there is a particular topic or area of interest that you would like to see taught in your school, or if you are curious whether our 4-H staff are already working with your school, we encourage you to reach out to your teachers and school administration. We would love the opportunity to get into your classrooms and bring engaging, hands-on educational experiences to even more youth throughout Buffalo County!
County Fair may be a busy time for our 4-H staff, but the school year is just as exciting! We look forward to getting our programming underway and connecting with even more youth during the 2026–2027 school year.
