Small Animal (Poultry & Rabbit)

RABBIT  

Showmanship judging is based on grooming and training of the rabbit and the appearance and behavior of the exhibitor. The exhibitor must vocally explain the steps in their routine and merit of the rabbit. Showmanship is, primarily, the skill of th e exhibitor in presenting and explaining the rabbit before the judge, the excellence of the rabbit is not considered in scoring. The judge may or may not ask questions of the exhibitor at the close of the routine. Pet rabbits may be shown in the Companion Animal division.

I800002 Single Fryer: 3 ½-5 ½ lbs. and under 69 days of age 

I800003 Meat Pen: Three fryers, any sex 3 ½-5 ½ lbs. and under 69 days of age I

800004 Roaster: Over 5 ½ lbs. 

I800005 Junior Breeding Doe: 1-6 months 

I800006 Junior Breeding Buck: 1-6 months 

I800007 Senior Breeding Doe: Over six months 

I800008 Senior Breeding Buck: Over six months 

POULTRY 

The Poultry and non-pet Rabbits will be shown during the Small Animal Show at the Sioux County Fair. 

  • Breeds: To be eligible for breed exhibition, cockerel, pullet, cock, or hen chicken entries must be fair representatives of one of the breeds listed in the American Standard of Perfection or the American Bantam Assoc. Standard of Perfection. 
  • Production Trio: A pen of egg production birds can be hybrids, crossbred, or purebred and shall consist of 3 sexually mature females. Egg production females will be judged for production qualities only and need not necessarily conform to breed standards. Hens must be in egg production. 
  • Rules for Bantam & Other Poultry: The rules for standard size chickens apply equally to bantams and waterfowl, where applicable.
