Understanding Social Security

Social Security is a social insurance plan for retirement.  Workers and their employers contribute to Social Security when they work.  The Social Security Act was signed into law in 1935 and  there has been numerous provisions since that time but Americans who are 65 and older qualify.

To learn more about applying for Social Security benefits attend an informational meeting on March 13, 2024 in Thedford at the Upper Loup NRD from 10 to 11:30 AM CT and                                March 13, 2024 in Mullen at the Hooker County Courthouse from 1:00 to 2:30 PM MT.
