Serv Safe Food Safety Training

Recent foodborne illness outbreaks have many people concerned about the safety of the food we eat. Nebraska Extension will be holding in person ServSafe Food Handlers classes in February, April, May, and September; and in person ServSafe Manager Classes in March, May, August and October for food service managers and employees who would like to update their food safety knowledge and skills. All classes will be presented by Nebraska Extension Educators certified in the ServSafe program.

ServSafe for Food Handlers will be held in Lexington on February 27 and September 25 from 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m. CT; in North Platte on February 28 from 8:30-12:00 and 1:00-4:30, May 9 from 1:00-5:00, and September 26 from 8:30-12:00; in McCook on February 29 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Chappell on April 8 from 8:30-12:00 MT It is designed for employees who handle, prepare, or work closely with food. ServSafe Food Handler does not replace the ServSafe program for managers. Rather, it helps to expand the practices and principles of food safety to other employees in your establishment. Upon successful completion of the exam your employees will receive certification from the National Restaurant Association. There is a $30 fee for the class which includes the course manual. Class sizes are limited, and pre-registration is required and is due by 2 weeks before the class date. See the flyer for registration information.

ServSafe Manager Food Safety Trainings will be held in North Platte and Scottsbluff on May7; and August 6; in McCook and Ainsworth on March 20, and in Lexington on October 23. All manager class times are 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. CT. This program is for managers and blends the latest FDA Food Code, food safety research and years of food sanitation training experience. Managers learn to implement essential food safety practices and creates a culture of food safety. All content and materials are based on actual job tasks identified by food service industry experts. Certification by the National Restaurant Association is given to those who complete the training and pass the certification requirements. There is a $135 fee for the class which includes the course manual. Pre-registration is required prior to the class. See the flyer for registration and deadline information.
