Cut the Caffeine!

Do you love your daily coffee? So do we!
With a few easy swaps your daily cup of coffee can be more fuel and less crash.
Cut the sugar and replace it with a natural sweetener such as honey or real maple syrup.
Need a little more flavor? Try vanilla extract or a dash of cinnamon.
Trying to watch your calorie intake? Swap out your milk- whole milk contains roughly 150 calories per cup, while skim milk contains 85 calories, and unsweetened almond milk contains 40 calories.
Love your sweetened up coffee from your local coffee shop? Opt for a smaller size!
Remember caffeine is a stimulant you can become dependent on and the more you drink the higher your tolerance becomes. Adults can have up to 400 mg of caffeine a day or 4 cups of coffee. Youth ages 12-18 should have less than 100mg of caffeine a day and youth under the age of 12 should not consume caffeine.
Don’t forget the “caffeine curfew” or the latest you should have caffeine is 2pm so you can get a restful night of sleep!
What she's been up to....
FNH educator, Ashley Ahrens finished her last session of "Let's Eat Healthy" with Mrs. Gazak and Mrs. Sandstrom's 2nd grade classes. The 2nd graders spent 5 Fridays learning about food groups, balanced meals and snacks, mindful eating, and how our food gets from farm to table. Mrs. Ashley had a blast with these two groups of students and can't wait to watch them make more healthy choices!
