Projects provide the basis of the 4-H program by offering various educational experiences. Carrying out a project will help the member "learn by doing" as well as learn "why" things happen the way they do.
Project selection is optional for Nebraska 4-H members, with the exception of horse and shooting sports projects. However, members are encouraged to officially enroll in projects they are interested in. The project enrollment process may help youth learn valuable management skills like goal-setting, record-keeping, planning and organizing.
For more information on the projects that are available please see 4-H Projects.
Check with the Extension Office if you would like a copy of the project manuals.
Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA)
Nebraska 4-H requires all youth enrolled in livestock projects to complete quality assurance training through Youth for the Quality Care of Animals (YQCA) every year. YQCA is a national multi-species quality assurance program focused on three core pillars: food safety, animal well-being, and character development. YQCA training is completed online through self-directed courses. Some counties may also offer face-to-face YQCA trainings.
Every 4-H member who exhibits a market animal must complete Quality Assurance by June 15 in order to show your market animal at the county fair. This includes exhibitors of beef, dairy, dairy goat, meat goat, poultry, rabbit, sheep and swine.
Please complete all forms either electronically or in pen.
Do not use pencil to complete forms.

Pre-Fair Registration
Before 4-H members can participate in the Cheyenne County Fair, they must submit a completed Pre-Registration Form. The Pre-Registration Form must be completed and returned to the Extension Office either physically or electronically by 5pm July 7, 2025. When completing the form, please follow these guidelines:
- Only one exhibitor per page
- An exhibitor may submit multiple pages if needed
- Please list every project that you might bring
- Each project must be on a separate line (ex. if you bring multiple beef, each animal should be its own line)
- Animals may not be pre-registered to multiple 4-H members
If you have questions or issues completing the form, please contact the Extension Office for help.
