David Lott is the Horticulture Educator at the Lincoln-Logan-McPherson Extension Office in North Platte. Extension responsibilities focus on home vegetable and fruit production, resource-efficient landscapes, and oversight of the West Central Nebraska Extension Master Gardener Program.

As we have experienced devastating fires in Western Nebraska, landowners will be wondering where to start to respond

to fire damage to landscapes and windbreaks.

I have a few resources to share for the immediate time on what to do after fires have died down.

After the Fire – U.S. Forest Service:

Living With Fire – University of Nevada Extension:

Post Fire Landscape Recovery – Montana Department of Natural Resources and Conservation

Fire Smart Landscapes – Nebraska Extension:

I am happy to work with anyone impacted with fire damaged landscapes as part of the EDEN team.

Sincerely,

David
