Cherry County Club Grant

The Cherry County 4-H Council seeks to promote and support positive youth development experiences for youth in Cherry County.  4-H Clubs in good standing may apply for funds to assist with club projects and club expenses that carry out the 4-H mission.  These applications are due May 1, 2026. 

Cherry County Youth Project Grant

4-H members in good standing with their club and the county may apply for a grant to fund a 4-H project. This grant is provided as 4-H project assistance to Cherry County 4-Hers, ages 8-18 years old. Funds should be applied for the current 4-H year. The application is due May 1, 2026. 

Cherry County 4-H Foundation Grant

The Cherry County 4-H Foundation meeting is scheduled TBD at the Extension Office. Applications for the Cherry County 4-H Foundation Grant are DUE BY NOON on TBD!  If your creative juices are flowing and you have a project in mind to "Make the Best Better" in 2025 consider applying for a Cherry County 4-H Foundation Grant!  The Foundation typically meets and awards grants annually in April, but additional meetings can be called if inspiration strikes! Examples of recent projects supported by this grant are: 

  • 3-D Archery Targets & Bows
  • Trap Thrower and Accessories
  • Robotics Equipment Upgrade
  • Horse Clinic Support
  • Dog Agility Equipment
  • Quilts of Valor Material & Supplies
  • CPR Training Registration Fees

The purpose of the 4-H Foundation is to act as an integral support system for 4-H programs and the youth in Cherry County.  The goal of the foundation is to develop leadership and stimulate interest in lifelong learning while encouraging the betterment of Cherry County and its communities. Funds generated by the Cherry County 4-H Foundation are to be used for adult and youth training, program development, and acquisition of equipment to benefit 4-H and youth.

  • Open to all high school seniors and college students
  • Applications due March 31, 2026, to the Cherry County Extension Office

Kerry Bryant Memorial Scholarship

  • Open to all high school seniors
  • Applications due March 31, 2026, to the Cherry County Extension Office

4S Goat Expo Scholarship

  • Open to all high school seniors or freshmen in college
  • Applications due May 31, 2026, to the 4S Goat Expo Office

Martha & Don Romeo Scholarship

  • Open to graduating Nebraska seniors
  • Applications due November 30, 2026

Panhandle Research Extension & Education Center Scholarship

  • Open to all high school seniors or in first or second year of study
  • Applications due April 1, 2026, via online

Nebraska Extension

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Panhandle Research, Extension and Education Center is now accepting applications for its annual student scholarships of $1000 each to be awarded in 2026.

Eligible applicants must have attended high school in one of the following counties: Banner, Blaine, Box Butte, Cherry, Cheyenne, Dawes, Deuel, Garden, Grant, Hooker, Kimball, Morrill, Scotts Bluff, Sheridan, Sioux, and Thomas. The applicant should be a graduating high school senior or a first- or second-year college student.

Applicants must attend any of the University of Nebraska campuses at Lincoln, Kearney, and Omaha, or the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture. They must major in Agronomy, Ag Economics, Animal Science, Vet Science, Agricultural Technology, or a related degree that emphasizes agriculture.

Applications can be filled out at https://ssp.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_1LE6WLZ7KKFV7H8 . They must include a supporting letter of recommendation to be considered complete. Email letter with subject line, 2026 Scholarship recommendation letter (insert name of student) to dmccarthy2@unl.edu.

The scholarship is open now through April 1. Awardees will be chosen by May 1 and notified via email.
