RABBITS

*Denotes State Fair Entry

Purple, $3; Blue, $2; Red, $1.50; White, $1

All rabbit entries must be pre-entered at the Extension office by the deadline.  One exhibitor may enter not more than eight live entries. Only two substitutions to pre-entry registration are allowed per youth on check-in day. All rabbits brought to the fair must be on the ID sheet. If the rabbit is not on the ID sheet, it may not be shown. All entries will remain on premises during entire fair. All rabbits must be owned by exhibitor by June 15 of the current year, and identified by tattoo to exhibit at fair. Rabbits must have tattoo in ear prior to check in day. Rabbits without proper tattoo cannot be checked in. All animals for exhibition shall be free of and show no symptoms of diseases during the exhibition.

There is no limit to the number of live entries per class. More than one animal can be shown in the same class, but the total number of animals per exhibitor cannot exceed the maximum number allowed.

All entries in a class will be presented to the judge together. Each exhibitor will be expected to be present while judging is taking place. The exhibitor will take the animal to a designated judging area where it will be judged according to its class.

For handling rabbits to show, consult the publication “Your 4-H Rabbit Project” PNW 163 available at the County Extension Office.

Herdsmanship duties are the responsibilities of the exhibitors. Exhibitors are responsible for feeding and watering their own animals. Exhibitors are expected to keep the exhibit area orderly, neat and attractive. They are expected to be courteous to other exhibitors and visitors. All exhibitors are expected to clean their area before removing animals from the exhibit building. 4-H Rabbits will be released at 5 p.m. Sunday, July 26.

Buffalo County also follows State Fair rules and guidelines.

Dress Code — The same dress code applies to rabbits that applies to livestock and will be strictly enforced. Show coats will NOT be permitted. Long-sleeved white shirts will be permitted. The dress code requirements will be for the regular show and showmanship.
