Registration Now Open for Annual Progressive Ag Safety Day

Central NE Farm Safety 4 Just Kids is pleased to announce the return of their annual Progressive Agriculture Safety Day®.  The event is planned for Tuesday, June 4, 2024, at the Valley County Fairgrounds.  Registration forms have been sent to area schools and parents should look for the forms being sent home with their children.  Forms are also available at local UNL Extension Offices, and the Ord NRCS office.  Parents may download and print a form or may use our fillable form. The fillable form can be saved with a unique name and emailed to proot2@unl.edu. Watch for a confirmation email.

Cargill has generously donated the registration fee for each child to attend the safety day, so there is no charge to families registering before the deadline of May 10th.  It is anticipated that interest in attending will be very high this year, so early registration is encouraged.  Registrations will be accepted until May 10th, or until the attendance is full - on a first registered basis.  Please remember to send registrations to the address on the form and do not return them to the school.  Each participant will receive a free lunch courtesy of GreenAmerica Biofuels of Ord, a take-home goody bag, and a safety day T-shirt.  Many generous donations from local sponsors, businesses and community members ensure that each safety day is a fun and valuable learning experience, and that each participant will receive a goodie bag full of fun and useful safety and health items for themselves and their families to use this summer.

Progressive Agriculture Safety Days are for ALL youth who live in a rural area, and not just those who live on a farm or ranch.  Children attending this year will participate in interactive sessions that reinforce the importance of taking responsibility for their own safety, respecting parents’ safety rules and sharing safety tips with their family and friends.  Hands-on demonstrations reveal the hidden hazards of rural surroundings and teach participants how to avoid injury and what to do should an accident occur.  Demonstrations this year will focus on:  Rural Electric Safety, Grain Bin Entrapment and Equipment Safety, Animal Safety, Preventing Burns, School Safety, Chemical Look-a-Likes, and Water Safety.
