Yearly 4-H Information & Deadlines

HOW TO ENROLL ON 4HONLINE

October 1- Start of 4-H Year
First week of October- 4-H Week
January 1- Children's age on this day is 4-H age
February 18- Market Beef Weigh-in 2-4 @ Sheridan Livestock
March 25- Speech Contest @ 2 p.m.
April 1- Market Beef DNA & ID forms due at Nebraska Extension Office
May 10- Horse ID forms for District & State District entry form, and Level II passed due to Nebraska Extension Office
May 18- Sheep & Goat Weigh-in 1-3 p.m.
June 1- Last Day for 4-H Enrollment
June 1- (Without Fee) All animal ID forms due, YQCA Certificate due, Horse Level I due, 4-H enrollment complete
Formerly known as Livestock Quality Assurance - June 1 (Includes Poultry, Rabbit, Beef, Dairy, Goat, Sheep, and Swine).  New site is ready - Youth for the Quality Care of Animals
June 15- (With Fee) All animal ID forms due, YQCA Certificate due, Horse Level I due, 4-H enrollment complete

August 22- Static State Fair entries due to the Extension Office

Livestock Quality Assurance

    • All youth must complete three (3) modules to fulfill their Quality Assurance requirement.  Complete the modules and print or email the completion certificates to the Extension Office

    • All youth showing livestock must complete Quality Assurance training by June 1 to be eligible for the Sheridan County Fair.

Livestock Judging

    • This year for Livestock Judging, the group is going to plan on meeting twice a month. The tentative plan is to meet on the second Thursday of the month to practice video classes with reasons and then one Sunday a month to view a live class of animals. Youth of all ages are welcome. The February sessions are February 8 starting at 6 pm at the Extension Office and February 25 at 2 pm. Please contact Melissa Mracek if you or your child is interested in participating or if you would like to host a class.
