Central Sandhills 4-H

Are you looking for high-quality STEM activities to engage upper elementary students this Fall? Nebraska 4-H Youth Development, in collaboration with Beyond School Bells and funded by the CARES Act, can provide a minimum of six (6) hours of STEM programming to childcare programs serving rural* school-age children in Grades 3-5**. STEM programs will be led by pairs of local high school students, designed and supported by University of Nebraska—Lincoln undergraduates and state-level Nebraska Extension 4-H staff.

A Nebraska 4-H Shooting Sports Leader Certification Workshop is scheduled for October in Stockville. It will be held October 23-24 at the Frontier County Fairgrounds in Stockville. The early bird deadline to register for this training is October 13th.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to become certified as an adult (21 years and older) or apprentice (14-20 years old) leader. Six project areas will be offered at the Workshop - rifle, pistol, shotgun, coordinator, hunting skills, and archery.

4-H Enrollment must be completed and membership dues paid by June 15.  Also to be completed by June 15: YQCA Certification, (If planning to exhibit cattle, sheep, goats, hogs, rabbits or poultry this requirment must be met.) Horse Id's, and Livestock Id's.  These can be emailed to the Extension Office at mandersen16@unl.edu.

These updated statewide rules will affect your County Fair and State Fair participation if not completed by June 15.

Clover Kid Colleges are for all area youth (ages 5-7 as of Jan. 1, 2021), not just those enrolled in 4-H! They are a great way to see what all 4-H has to offer and complete a few projects for the Fair. Please contact the Central Sandhills Extension Office by June 21 to reserve a spot.

8:30 am – 12:30 am each day will be Healthy Habits

1:00 pm – 3:30 pm each day will be Home Environment

June 17 will be in Mullen at the Hooker County Library basement
